Sushmita was born in the Bengali-speaking Sen family on November 19, 1975 in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. Shusmita Sen family consists of her dad, Shubeer, a former Indian Air Force Wing Commander; mom, Subhra, Jewelry Designer and owner of a Dubai-based store.Shusmita Sen  has two siblings, a sister named Neelam, who is married to Nauman Malik, and a brother named Rajeev. Subhra's dad was a poet.
Shusmita Sen attended different schools in Jorhat, and Nagpur, but spend the majority of her schooling days in the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute and Air Force Silver School in Delhi.Shusmita Sen was regarded as a tomboy and spent most of her times with boys. Since the schools were Hindi medium, she could not speak English until she was 16 years of age.Shusmita Sen subsequently not only mastered English, but became an English Honors student, and also obtained a degree in Journalism. Due to her place of birth she can speak Urdu flawlessly.
Shusmita Sen first public appearance was at the Air Force Club Contest at the age of 15.Shusmita Sen  did a few fashion shows thereafter. Then during 1994 she decided to be a participant in Miss India beauty pageant, fully aware that she was being pitted against the reigning favorite, Aishwarya Rai. Sushmita took everyone by surprise when she was crowned Miss India while Aishwarya had to content with being the First Runner-up. Both beauties went on to win Miss Universe and Miss World titles respectively. Ironically the final outfit for Miss Universe for Sushmita was made by a little-known Meena Bazar tailor, and her mom.
It was during 1996 that she first appeared as herself in a Bollywood movie titled 'Dastak'. Though the movie did not fare too well, she was noticed and thus began her career on the silver screen.Shusmita Sen  has since then portrayed herself in a variety of characters and also some 'item' numbers.
Not considered a classic beauty and leading quite an unconventional lifestyle she ended up in many relationships but did not marry anyone.Shusmita Sen  wanted to be a mother and to adopt a baby girl, and name her Renee. Since she is single, she had to fight a Court battle before she could finally adopt Renee. Finally on 13 April 2000 she was given the go-ahead to adopt her, even though the family-owned business in Dubai was already re-named as 'Renee' quite ironically a year earlier on 13 April 1999.

Shruti Seth was born on 18 December 1977 in Gujarat, India. Shruti Seth did her schooling from Ashok Academy and graduated from St. Xavier's College Ahmedabad with a degree in Economics and Commerce.Shruti Seth  is married to film director Danish Aslam.
Shruti Seth started her career as a model. According to her, her entry into the world of glamour happened by chance. A couple of people had asked her if she’d like to model and at that time, it just meant extra pocket money. Over the span of her career as a model she did several commercials including Clean and Clear moisturiser, TATA Home Finance, Ponds Talc, Frooti, Lifebuoy Soap, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, LG, Airtel, Mrs. Marino Hair Softener, Stayfree Secure, Dominos etc.
Eventually, she moved to television. At the start of her career in modeling and television, Seth said that “fate was pushing me in that direction and I just followed the course.” Shruti Seth also said that it was her stint on Channel V “that firmly put me on the map.”
For Channel V, India she hosted First day First show and Junglee Jukebox.Shruti Seth acted in many serials such as Kyun Hota Hai Pyarrr, Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand and Shararat (sitcom) with actress Farida Jalal. Shruti Seth is also seen in Rishta.com on Sony Entertainment Television. On Rishta.com, she said in an interview that, "They (the Yash Raj serials) haven’t got any TRPs at all. But it’s not for the people who are watching TV in the first place. The whole TRP game is very skewed. I don’t believe that in a population of over a billion people, 15,000 households decide what the entire country wants to watch. This lot of Yash Raj was conceptualised for those who are not watching TV".Shruti Seth further said in the same interview that "All our loyal audience for my serial on TV is in London, America, South Africa, Australia. It’s not that the Indians will not like it, it’s just sad that they are not aware of it, because the publicity has been disappointing. Shruti Seth has also hosted several seasons of Comedy Circus on Sony Channel."
Film career
Shruti Seth has also starred in a few films. On moving from television to films, she stated that, “I haven’t really moved on to anything. It’s not that I would not do TV and only do films. Yes, more avenues have started opening for me. I am game for doing something exciting on any medium – stage, celluloid or TV".Shruti Seth is probably best known for her role as Fatima "Fatty" in Fanaa (2006) with Aamir Khan and Kajol.Shruti Seth also starred in Tara Rum Pum, produced by Yash Raj Films and also made an appearance in Prakash Jha's film Raajneeti in 2010. On her role in Rajneeti, she said in an interview that I am hoping that my hard-hitting role in Rajneeti will change my being typecast, because it is the most unlikely character one would expect me to play.
